AP-360™ anti-bacterial is an all natural and renewable resource that is derived from Chitosan – basically the discarded shells of crustaceans (shrimps, crabs). This technology has been known for some time but now it is readily available, effective, and highly affordable. Chitosan is a naturally occurring compound that is common in nature and "no adverse ecological effects have thus far been attributed to its presence" (EPA). It is safe to use for everyone, including those with shellfish allergies – and many applications are even approved by the FDA. This incredible additive, when applied to apparel or bags, naturally inhibits the growth of harmful odor causing bacteria, mold, and fungus. Not all bags are the same when they are anti-bacterial. Triclosan is increasingly coming under fire for its use in certain brands of anti-microbial products. Studies have linked triclosan to a range of health and environmental issues including skin irritations, allergy triggers, bioaccumulation, abnormalities with the endocrine system and dioxin contamination that destructs fragile aquatic ecosystems. It is currently under fire by EPA/FDA and many lawmakers and activists are looking to ban its use. It is already highly regulated in many countries, and since it is a pesticide, all products must be registered with the EPA. We are 100% Triclosan-Free!
